The theme was ALREADY supposed to be Bret’s revenge. So was it necessary to make him look even worse week after week? He has been beaten ruthlessly by Batista and Vince. Vince Spit in the guy’s face, trash talked his persona, including insults that were based on actual criticism that Bret has heard his entire life.

If this is all a set up for a street match between Bret and Vince then I think the end does not justify the means. To balance out the kind of disrespect Bret’s character has been shown recently, the only thing justifiable pay-off would be championship gold. Sounds nuts right? Well so does Bret coming back to have Vince criticize him and spit in his face. I guess we’ll find out in a month.

Bonus – I got the official DVD of the Bret documentary “Wrestling with Shadows”. It comes with a bonus Owen Hart documentary that is INCREDIBLE. I found it on Amazon. Cop it!

I’m gonna be in the house at the Hammerstein this weekend for an incredible and affordable internet Pay Per View. I will even be doing some commentary. You know the story. Eddie “Umaga” Fatu was 36 years old and is dead for no reason. The word is consecutive heart attacks but who knows? He just got back from Australia where he did four shows on the “Hulkamania Tour”.

Umaga was not only The Rock’s cousin and Rikishi’s brother but a really strong wrestler in his own right. He was super athletic and had some great matches over the last few years. He was released by the WWE in June for violating their wellness policy.

RIP buddy.

People always ask me who my favorite wrestler is currently. Well actually it is the beautiful Melina. I interviewed her years ago and really respected her respect for the game and her aspirations. Back then she was almost solely a manager. Now she is a multi-time champion and one of the most innovative wrestlers in the biz.

Come meet her, Christian, John Morrison, Mickie James, Kofi Kingston, and Hornswoggle this Saturday at Ringside Fest 2009 –hosted by me. It’s gonna be fun.

Ah, young Kanye. This is when he was just crazy with the beats - not completely crazy all together. I must have played “Through the Wire” for about a year nonstop before the first album dropped. At the time half the world thought his name was KaYNE West. We know his name now and this classic, along with Late Registration, may be the main reason. These albums felt fresh and authentic, and they filled a space that really never had been filled before - smart soulful college rap.

Well TNA is officially throwing their hat in the big time wrestling game. Thanks to his buddy, Eric Bischoff, Hulk Hogan has signed with TNA–reuniting Hogan and Bischoff with Vince Russo. This is a recipe for success–or complete disaster. There are a lot of interesting booking options for TNA–that’s for sure. There are also the obvious struggles that TNA always faces like Russo’s writing, a weak arena, the six sided ring, and an overall cheesey look a lot of the time.

They do have talent, though–and plenty of it. The question is will Hogan actually be an active part of TNA or was this more of a publicity stunt for the company? I have no idea, but I do know this–Vince McMahon better start mixing things up. I keep finding myself more and more interested with TNA.

So touching….just cry…own it

I hope not Sherman Lewish whose old ass has not done a thing since arriving to be a “second set of eyes”. Will Campbell start? Who knows? I would think so. This is the lowest it has ever gotten in my 25 or so years as a Redskins fan.  On the upside–after a 14-6 loss to the winless Chiefs, I think we may have hit rock bottom–or so I hope.

I saw a special screening of this today with my girl. MY LORD–well done. Shot for $15,000 in the director’s home. Dope flick….

No matter what stage of his career Michael Jackson was in–he always had a ridiculous ability to create catchy tunes and melodies. Then you sprinkle his voice on those melodies and you have magic. His new single is no different. Would it have been a smash if he were alive and well? Probably not. He had already been to torn down for us to appreciate anything. I, personally, loved all of his new singles from the last couple albums–and this is no different. I also already have my tickets for the movie when it drops on the 27th!

It was the same in 1991 and the team continued in that tradition in the years that followed. Since a bitter little loser (by nature–not by checkbook) named Dan Snyder took over the team–things have started to erode. Negativity begets negativity and losers have a tendency to–well–lose.

So even though this team has been loaded with winners and true football talents (think Arrington, Taylor, Portis, Landry, Fletcher), this team cannot be successful. More so than any one player can–an owner sets the tone for a franchise. Great owners can allow players and coaches to define the franchise, but bad owners poison the franchise. That’s what Snyder has always done. He is like a spoiled child who has the ability to control and ruin the lives of many and doing so makes him feel powerful.

So it is not surprising that we are at a point now where players are fighting in the locker room, coaches and quarterbacks lack confidence, and the most simple things appear complicated. This is a team that hees been ruined at the top. At this point succeeding would require not just working really hard, but overcoming the odds. I’m not saying it’s impossible, but it is very close to it. I do not know the last time I saw a traditionally great franchise turn into this much chaos.
