Ralph Nader finally just proved a lot of good people right. For a long time, I tried to convince naive liberal friends that Ralph Nader was a fraud. That he simply ran for President because he is an attenton seeker who had no interest in the world actually becoming a better place.

Well Nader ensured that his attenton-seeking will not affect the most important election since the 1960s. I do not believe that his accusing Senator Obama of “talking white” exposes Nader as a racist as much as it exposes him as a man who is just as callous, desperate, and amoral as the right-wingers who he claims to fight against. I never wanted to say this while the series was still going on, but the Celtics are a MUCH better team than the Lakers. If they played 10 times, the Celts would win seven or eight of them. I sincerely believe that. This year the Celtics took six of eight from the Lake Show. To be honest, the Celtics were a notch above everyone this year. They played their worst stretch of basketball to start the playoffs, but by the end things were starting to click. Why? Because The Big Three are The BIg Three.

KG was a player I coveted for several years for exactly the reasons that we eventually won the championship. Can he disappear on offense sometimes? Sure. But he does not disappear from GAMES. His spirit and competitive drive are unmatched. He is so astounding in those respects that he took two other all-stars to a different level. Paul Pierce has always been great. He has never been a true leader, though. Not until KG got there. Talk about an intangible. KG makes his teammates physically and mentally better. That is incredible.

I may be most surprised with Ray Ray, though. Good old Jesus. WE LOVE YOU JESUS! I really thought that the Ray Allen that Danny Ainge traded for on draft night last year was a broken-down garbage pail kid version of the Ray Allen who made the Sonics and Bucks legit. I did not think he had it anymore. Boy did he shut me up? And I couldn’t be happier about it.

I feel like there are so many shout outs to give here. Rajon Rondo was a pick I completely maligned at first. I was not a fan of him as a freshman at Kentucky, but he turned out to be a man-child. Unbelievable season for Double R.

Kendrick Perkins has come such a long way. He has now put himself in that caliber of guys that you always will think about being a force in the playoffs and finals which bodes very well for this team’s future.

Powe, Cassell, and Posey all stepped up at different times. Especially Posey, who is a guaranteed three when he’s open and a shut-down defender. Eddie House. Oh Eddie House. I have always liked Eddie and he has been all over the league and it is so nice to see him in Boston and to have him step up when he did. He is a phenomenal shooter and he has a great attitude as well. This team is a very lovable dominant team–unlike other dominant teams from Boston–eh hemm.

As for Phil Jackson–he will have to wait another year (or three or four) to break Red Auerbach’s championship record. How appropriate is it that the Celtics kept him from breaking that mark?

The Celtics bandwagon is huge and I admit that it drives me crazy, but I also understand it. Who DOESN’T want to be down with the best?! CONGRATS BOYS! This is the first of many!

You know why I’m worried? Because even I have started drinking the Kool Aid. I’ve started to believe we absolutely SHOULD win this series, which means it is the perfect time for Kobe to take all of our hearts and win two games in Boston. Not possible? I hope not.

I know one thing. I will be spending a lot of time in the basement office at SOBs by myself tonight. GO Cs!!!!!!!

R. Kelly? Where do I begin? That deserves its own post. It’s absolutely unbelievable that he survived this unscathed. I can’t wait to hear whatever bullsh*t song he comes out with about his trials and tribulations. Poor Kels.

Yeah I’m pretty happy. Rondo is banged up. But as a result my favorite non-big three player, Eddie House, stepped up and delivered down the stretch.  Perkins is banged up, but the Lakers big men are still too soft. Garnett finally hit a bunch of big shots from the post. Pierce guided the team through an incredible third quarter. Doc Rivers coached a great game. Posey knocked down cluth threes. PJ continued to exceed any reasonable expectations. YES I’M HAPPY. I don’t care what happens from here on out–I am happy right now.

The Celtics have played far from perfect basketball. In fact this team is not fully in stride at the moment, but they are doing what championship teams do–getting it done. Can the Lakers win three straight? I don’t think so, but unfortunately Kobe Bryant probably disagrees.

It’s not the anniversary show, but it was the anniversary show–you knowwhatimean?!

Other notes from the night–Lord Finesse sat three seats away. I also saw Steve Nash, Tony Parker, and Eva Longoria. I told Nash how much I loved him (pause) but was unable to pull out the flip cam, because security was bitchy about cameras in the theatre.

I have said for months that I like how we match up with the Lakers. I don’t know why. I just do. It also helps that Kobe has played worse than I can remember him playing in a long long time. That said–this series is FAR from over.

Sidenote — As exciting as it was to see Leon Powe have a great game–isn’t it also a bit befuddling? Yes befuddling. Where has Leon been? Why doesn’t Doc remember his bench? Do we still have Eddie House? What about Big Baby? I don’t hate on Doc, but he does drive me crazy.

My friend, Clayton works for Al Jazeera TV. He tried to attend the AIPAC policy conference this week and you will see the results. The craziest part about this video is that what AIPAC does fundamentally goes against what Israel is about. In Israel, there are so many people with differing opinions who have it out in every forum imaginable. Of course, back in the good old US of A, home of democracy, a REAL debate is impossible to have.

This is from the Capitol Hill’s News/Gossip Rag, Roll Call from Yesterday. Lieberman’s true conservative colors are showing as always as he has been bad-mouthing the Democratic nominee all week. Is there someone who makes me less proud to be Jewish than Joe Lieberman?

“Furthermore, during a Senate vote Wednesday, Obama dragged Lieberman by the hand to a far corner of the Senate chamber and engaged in what appeared to reporters in the gallery as an intense, three-minute conversation.

While it was unclear what the two were discussing, the body language suggested that Obama was trying to convince Lieberman of something and his stance appeared slightly intimidating.

Using forceful, but not angry, hand gestures, Obama literally backed up Lieberman against the wall, leaned in very close at times, and appeared to be trying to dominate the conversation, as the two talked over each other in a few instances.

Still, Obama and Lieberman seemed to be trying to keep the back-and-forth congenial as they both patted each other on the back during and after the exchange.

Afterwards, Obama smiled and pointed up at reporters peering over the edge of the press gallery for a better glimpse of their interaction.

Obama loyalists were quick to express their frustration with Lieberman’s decision and warned that if he continues to take a lead role in attacking Obama it could complicate his professional relationship with the Caucus.”

It took 10 years, but Paul Pierce has truly become an all-time Celtic. He has always been on his way, but it’s official. The Celtics made me very proud tonight. I was not a believer until we went on the road and closed out Detroit. That is called “something champions do”. BEAT LA!
