Ok as for Juan Ep. Guys here’s the deal. I feel STRONGLY that Juan Ep should be a focal point for Ciph and I. I love the podcast and am very proud of it (when we’re doing it). I also hope we can regain a weekly schedule for it. Fat Joe was recorded and like most Juan Eps, Ciph took it to edit a couple of things, and it is now in limbo. I am not trying to bury Ciph here as he is super busy and busts his ass, but y’all know Ciph is about his business (comedy and paid gigs) and Juan Ep is not super high priority. I do try to push for it when I can and plan on having a more serious convo with him about some sort of regular schedule.

I hate that we’re shitting on our regular and hardcore fans. I hope one day Juan Ep is our full time job.In the mean time I wish you guys could try to support the other stuff we do and if not–you will be alerted when Juan Ep is back. I really thought the Joe Crack ep would drop the day we recorded it but I should not have said anything in retrospect. Typical me. I will holler at Ciph about it manana.

This weekend I will be in LA and the Bay hosting Rock the Bells and hanging out. If any of you guys are coming out–let a Jew know. Sorry for the bullshit guys.

Does the End Justify the Means with Bret and Vince?

Kinda hard to figure this thing out right? Bret Hart came back to the WWE after a 12 year absence. Needless to say we were expecting a triumphant result and I’m still confident that we will get that come Wrestlemania 26. The question now is how will the WWE make this thing pay off for the viewer that loves Bret and was already bitter about their treatment of him before this comeback?

The theme was ALREADY supposed to be Bret’s revenge. So was it necessary to make him look even worse week after week? He has been beaten ruthlessly by Batista and Vince. Vince Spit in the guy’s face, trash talked his persona, including insults that were based on actual criticism that Bret has heard his entire life.

If this is all a set up for a street match between Bret and Vince then I think the end does not justify the means. To balance out the kind of disrespect Bret’s character has been shown recently, the only thing justifiable pay-off would be championship gold. Sounds nuts right? Well so does Bret coming back to have Vince criticize him and spit in his face. I guess we’ll find out in a month.

Bonus – I got the official DVD of the Bret documentary “Wrestling with Shadows”. It comes with a bonus Owen Hart documentary that is INCREDIBLE. I found it on Amazon. Cop it!

As I absorb the news that Bret Hart has SUPPOSEDLY signed on to make a return to the WWE–I can’t wait for a wrestling show this weeekend. I’m gonna be in the house at the Hammerstein this weekend for an incredible and affordable internet Pay Per View. I will even be doing some commentary. Hit up ROHWrestling.com for more info, but an ROH show at Hammerstein is a special thing.

Speaking of special things–there is going to be an all wrestling Juan Epstein podcast coming soon. And special it will be. More on the ROH show and Bret’s pending return coming.

You know the story. Eddie “Umaga” Fatu was 36 years old and is dead for no reason. The word is consecutive heart attacks but who knows? He just got back from Australia where he did four shows on the “Hulkamania Tour”.

Umaga was not only The Rock’s cousin and Rikishi’s brother but a really strong wrestler in his own right. He was super athletic and had some great matches over the last few years. He was released by the WWE in June for violating their wellness policy.

RIP buddy.

People always ask me who my favorite wrestler is currently. Well actually it is the beautiful Melina. I interviewed her years ago and really respected her respect for the game and her aspirations. Back then she was almost solely a manager. Now she is a multi-time champion and one of the most innovative wrestlers in the biz.

13 Kev Brown - I Do What I Do - 2005

This one slid under the radar for many people, but man, was it a keeper. Crazy production through and through, and the under-appreciated Low Budget founder had himself a classic producer-driven album.

12 Raekwon - Only Built 4 Cuban Linx, Pt. 2 - 2009

Speaking of rare hip hop albums that match the hype. This future classic was over a decade in the making. What eventually came was a great conclusion to the 1995 classic. This one features production from the GOATs - Pete Rock, Rza, J Dilla, and many more.

11 Lil Wayne - Tha Carter III - 2008

Everyone told me how awesome The Carter II was and I did enjoy it, but this was the first time I ever ran to the store to buy a Lil Wayne album. Say what you want about Wayne and he definitely became over-exposed in the period around the release of Tha Carter III, but this album was chock full of party hits and dope production. A rare hip hop album that matches its hype.

10 Kanye West - College Dropout - 2004

Ah, young Kanye. This is when he was just crazy with the beats - not completely crazy all together. I must have played “Through the Wire” for about a year nonstop before the first album dropped. At the time half the world thought his name was KaYNE West. We know his name now and this classic, along with Late Registration, may be the main reason. These albums felt fresh and authentic, and they filled a space that really never had been filled before - smart soulful college rap.

Well TNA is officially throwing their hat in the big time wrestling game. Thanks to his buddy, Eric Bischoff, Hulk Hogan has signed with TNA–reuniting Hogan and Bischoff with Vince Russo. This is a recipe for success–or complete disaster. There are a lot of interesting booking options for TNA–that’s for sure. There are also the obvious struggles that TNA always faces like Russo’s writing, a weak arena, the six sided ring, and an overall cheesey look a lot of the time.

They do have talent, though–and plenty of it. The question is will Hogan actually be an active part of TNA or was this more of a publicity stunt for the company? I have no idea, but I do know this–Vince McMahon better start mixing things up. I keep finding myself more and more interested with TNA.

How bad are the Redskins? How useless is Sherman Lewis? How annoying is this season going to be? We will find out Monday night. If the Skins get blown out on national tv or worse yet–the offense stinks–this is going to be a long second half of the season.

Maybe–just maybe–new play calling will make a difference. I doubt it, but here’s to hoping.
