Best of the 2000s
By pmd on Oct 25, 2009 in Hip Hop |
A friend recently asked me to come up with my list of top albums since 2000. So it got me to thinking–damn there have been a lot of dope albums in the last nine years. Maybe not as many as the previous nine, but still. What albums from the last decade will stand the test of time?
Blueprint, Black Album, Stillmatic, Get Rich Or Die Trying, The Marshall Mathers LP, Late Registration, Food & Liquor, The Cool, Electric Circus, Hell Hath No Fury to name a few…

^I agree with your list and I’d just add OB4CL 2 and Street Hop.

Like the 80/20 rule, I agree with most of the list. But there is one album that no one mentioned that is in opinion the best hip/hop of 2000′s.
Scarface – The Fix (2002)
Production: Kanye West, The Neptunes, Nashiem Myrick for The Hitmen….
Features: Jay-z, Nas, Kelly Price, Faith…
One word…”ILL”

From Me 2 U is one of the worst Hip-Hop Albums this decade. Lyrically it is so bad I don’t see how anyone who knows anything can defend it. And I’m a Juelz fan. Here are a few I like that haven’t been mentioned.
Royce Da 5’9″ – “Death is Certain”
Styles P “A Gangster and a Gentleman”
Beanie Sigel “The Truth”
Lloyd Banks “Hunger for More”
Young Buck “Straight Outta Cashville”
G-Unit “Beg For Mercy”
All the early G-Unit stuff is great IMO opinion, from the time before 50′s second album dropped. Styles has always been great IMO and Gangster and a Gentleman is to me his best album, track for track it still holds up to this day. Royce’s album Death is Certain is borderline classic material. And I love Beanie’s debut, The Truth. And is it too early to put the Slaughterhouse album on any list?
