when it comes to something subjective like art, lists in general are kind of weird. nothing wrong with your opinions (i like many of them), but duck and cover my dude, there’s no way you can release an 8 min+ video of opinions and not have people go nuts, especially the internet crazies…though maybe that’s the point.
ps: no ghost?

Your Dre 3k argument clashes with your Nas argument.

i gotta talk shit about giving us 11 mcs at the end on a top 10 list. The only problem i see is it comes across like you give some people credit based on things they did in the past or things they might do in the future and add it with what they’ve done lately and others you don’t. Definitely let your underground bias show in some comments also, which isn’t necessarily bad but will get a reaction out of some people i’m sure.

yeah how do you even mention Andre3000 in this conversation. if the criteria is hot MCs RIGHT NOW, he’d be lower on the list than Nas! Nas has at least dropped an album in the last year. I mean, if you are going to say Andre3000, you open the floodgates for anyone to be on the list.

Peter Pudge Nubby,
I see Combat Jack re-ethered you on your own shyt once again.
Dude, you’re threatening CJack’s kids? Who are you, Tony Yayo?
PPN, maybe you can use your wrestling contacts, to get a ring, to have a charity fight against CJack. I would pay $ to see that comedic affair.
Peter Pudge Nubby, making a strong run at Doucheus Maximus of 2009.

hey, nice discussion on the video. for me, drake, raekwon, nickelus f, gucci, eminem.
sidenote: you have to leave that combat jack shit OFF twitter, OFF the blogs. i’m not saying either of you is right or wrong, but its a bad look for BOTH of you.
“A wise man told me don’t argue with fools
Cause people from a distance can’t tell who is who”
you have NOTHING to gain from engaging with these guys. everything to lose.

I’d say that if you’re going to put Jeezy on the list, then Gucci is more than deserving of a place as well. Despite the fact that Jeezy called his album “The Recession”, the fact is that 95% of the time his lyrical game consists entirely of finding new ways to talk about the same few things (dope dealing/cars/clothes/jewelry/guns), which is exactly what Gucci does. I guess the difference is that Jeezy has pretty much been treading water for the last two albums, whereas Gucci seems to be constantly looking for ways to improve as a rapper, which is kinda rare for MCs of any genre.
I wouldn’t conider either guy to be a “lyrical” MC necessarily, but tracks like this at least show that Gucci is at least trying to live up to his crazy hype: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_n1my_tFcjI
Other that that I pretty much agreed with your list. I don’t like Kid Cudi, Drake, or B.o.B’s new shit, but I can’t deny that they’re a pretty big deal right now.

First impression, i almost completely agree.
As far as the nas - andre argument, i think you guys are wrong and PMD is right. I love nas first of all so im def not some outkast homer, but the buzz off a random andre song is guaranteed to be bigger than a nas one. Nas actually drops lets of random heat rocks that go completely unnoticed sometimes. The same cannot be said for Andre. The buzz he got off of just the john legend feature was crazy. Nas is top 15, hottest.
To me it would go
Royce
1) Jay (perfect timing)
2) Eminem
3) KanYe
4) Wayne
5) Drake
6) Buddens
7) Rae
9) Jeezy
10) Gucci as much as i hate putting the last two on , you sort of have to for the street lockage/ignorant white boy appeal alone. Also I think jay em 1&2 is undeniable, which is sorta crazy to think, that in 2009 those 2 r legitimately the hottest 2 mcs in the game.

I think Cudi is garbage…but besides that i prety much like everyone on the list.

replace Joe Budden with Joell Ortiz
Krisch | Sep 26, 2009 | Reply
That’s about right… with the exception of Asher. That guy was a lot of talk that ended up equating to zilch. He can rhyme, but that’s about it.
Joe Budden definitely, because not only can dude rhyme with the best of ‘em, but if he puts up a video of him eating a piece of pizza, the whole entire internet gets in an uproar over it. You can’t buy that kinda shit.
Of course the usual suspects- Jay, Kanye, Wayne, Em get in.
Andre… not sure. I mean yeah, if he drops a verse tomorrow, it becomes the hottest verse of the month automatically- but I’m ready to hear an Andre song or album before I say he’s one of the hottest right now.

Jay
Em
Cudi
Rae
Wayne
Drake
kanye
q-tip
Brother Ali
Will.I.Am
These are not my favorites, but I would consider them the “hottest” right now in their lanes.

I think Rosenberg broke things down to a good solid Top 10 Mcs listing. Although I dont think Cudi is lyrical enough to be considered a “hot MC” but the buzz is definitely there. Overall he had a good list.
The O.K. Show | Sep 27, 2009 | Reply
Wayne and Drake are both weak. I don’t care what anybody says. Going off buzz is a stupid way to quantify stuff. Nickelback has a lot of buzz. Taylor Swift has a lot of buzz. These whack mainstream MCs are making the same music for the same people.
Top 10:
Jay
Raekwon
Mos Def
Joe Budden
Joell
Royce
Ghost
Kanye
Lupe (even though he hasn’t done shit lately, his silence sounds better than whack stuff these people are putting out)
Em
