  3. Just listened to the full audio, and it was seriously such a dope ass show. The only minor quibble I have is that I wish you’d have asked Tip more questions about Amplified. That record got a MAD mixed reaction in an era where “real hip-hop” heads were not as tolerant toward more blatantly club-oriented rap music as they are now. I think Dilla and DJ Scratch’s beats on that record were also pretty influential on the Neptunes’ music from like 99-03.

    Seriously though, when that record came out, every Tribe fan I knew had a totally different opinion of it, and I’m sure a lot of people that didn’t like it at the time have been revisiting it since Dilla’s death, so I’d really be interested to hear what Tip thinks of it now.

    For real though, this series is incredible. As for suggestions on who to have on the next Noisemakers, how about:

    Busta (agree that this would be an amazing choice, since his career has had so many twists and turns)
    DJ Evil Dee, Sean Price, Buckshot, or anyone from the Boot Camp Clik
    Mike Dean, Bun B or Scarface (if you’re as up on your Texas rap history as you are on your NY rap history, this could be incredible)
    Pete Rock (obvious choice)
    Masta Ace
    Kool G Rap (this would be the dopest fucking thing ever)
    Marley Marl

  4. Thanks for putting this video clip up. I’ve seen the clip you did with Premo also and thought that was good too. I’ll definitly be listening to the full audio when I get the chance.

    Like Mark P I’d like to offer my suggestions for future Noisemakers;

    * Roc-A-Fella
    * Russell Simmons/Def Jam
    * Wu-Tang Clan
    * Nas
    * D.I.T.C.
    * Juice Crew
    * Maybe Ice Cube???

    Whilst roaming Youtube for Hip Hip videos I found this;

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OsVXxeNiOBw&feature=PlayList&p=871642349373E0F2&index=23

    I’d never heard it before and am thinkin’ it was released circa ‘93. It features Ol’ Dirty, Shyheim, Big Daddy Kane, Jay-Z and two other emcees (one of whom I think is Sauce Money). Anyhows, the dude who raps the first verse is quite the possibly THE WORST RAPPER EVER! I thought it was a joke when I first heard it … it really is that bad. This guy is truly next-level garbage and I’m shocked at how he got on a track with greats like Kane & Jay. Listen to and see what I mean.

    Lastly, when is Juan Epstein coming back? Glad to hear you plug it at your Q-Tip/Noisemakers showcase, now if you could start making them again please? I expect the next one to be FIRE and subsequent episodes to be on a more consistent basis.

    Keep doing you Pete and shout to Cipha from a UK fan.

  5. Just realised that this emcee was Scoob from Big Daddy Kane’s camp. Still shit though.

  6. Incredible night. When ?uest and Tip jammed with the bad at the end on Dilla’s “Lightworks,” that was INSANE! Can’t wait until the next one.
