  12. Ayo, there needs to be a Maino Pt. II.. As a dude who stays on the internet, and is more Q-Tip than Ludacris– I fuck with Maino and his music(pause). I’m rooting for dude to win, and if you go take a look at his other interviews, he’s got shit to say.

    Real recognize real.

  16. It’s interesting that Atlantic heavily supported Maino (for “Hi Hater”) yet didn’t give a damn about Little Brother (for “The Minstrel Show”). Real interesting… can somebody say #4080?

Peter, even though I understand where you come from, I still like Ether better than Takeover. Of course the Kanye beat was way better than Ron Browz’s; but to me, Nas is one of the few artists today that makes me pay attention to lyrics more than the beats. Also, Ether wasn’t a club beat anyway, so of course most DJ’s who don’t pay attention to lyrics are going to pick Takeover.

That’s why I can understand why Nas and Jay may pick wack beats on purpose, cause they want people to pay attention to lyrics FIRST. But hey, most people thought Canibus was wack because of his beat selection; so it is what it is I guess.

Props to Domo, but I didn’t care for Super Ugly other than the lines that you mentioned. To Earkle, I read your comments about the Paul Mooney episode. This episode was very good, but I liked the Paul Mooney one a little more. I don’t agree with his way of thinking, but that’s what makes it more interesting.

Besides, if Juan Ep only dealt with Hip Hop, then this wouldn’t be as big as it is now. When it was just Peter and Ciph, a lot of stuff they talked about had nothing to do with Hip Hop (Seinfield, Curb Your Enthusiasm, politics outside of hip hop, etc.)

Nevertheless, Juan Ep can’t satisfy everybody, but as long as they continue to deliver, that’s all that matters.

  18. props to juan ep for interviewing maino. a real nigga maino definitely is. about nas and jay-z, dat super ugly wasn’t that big cause nas already mentioned jay-z fucking with carmen before jay-z did that song. now the jay-z diss that nas did to the paid in full beat, a lot of people disregarded that. some don’t even know that song exist.

  23. i’m not really a fan of maino at all but this was a GREAT juan ep. it made me check out some main too. the plan worked!

i always get frustrated when people suggest who you should do juan eps with because we should just be happy with what we get. but, biz markie would be awesome.

  24. i love how rosenberg will pick apart some dope music from artists that wanna take pride in being lyricists…but he gives people like maino a pass because of intimadation …if its about hiphop..truth be told…maino is extremly trash…not because hes a gun rapper or commercial…hes trash cause he was no sense of any flow/cadence/style anything….he barely puts a rhyme togother…he raps like a 2009 prodigy

  25. @Ansom

Hi Hater had a hook you could sing along to, I’m guessing that’s why Atlantic pushed it.

  27. I always thought that Jeru’s Ya Playin Yaself was a Bad Boy/Junior Mafia diss to as the title references Players’ Anthem and the loop is the same record (New Birth) but chopped.
