The Most Touching Obama Video I’ve Scene
By pmd on Oct 30, 2008 in News & Politics |
I have to be honest–if I hear Ciph or anyone else tell me they’re not voting or it doesn’t matter, I’m going to be sick. I’m glad Ciph lost his respect for me over buying Latarian a wii, cuz I have no respect for someone not voting–especially in this election. To not care about this election is to not care about race in America. Save me your bullsh*t about how everything will be the same no matter who wins. Things will never be the same if Barack wins. And if you can’t see that then your perspective on history and many other things is just off. And I’m sorry that you’re sitting on the sideline as history passes you by. The rest of us, though, are going to win this thing and party like you don’t even know!

Hip Hop Heebs for Obama!
Barack’s already got about 310 electoral votes locked in. He needs 270. This thing is a wrap.. IF we all vote like we say we will.
Y’hear that people? VOTE!!!

Pete - thank you for stating the obvious. Dude gets all twisted for weeks over getting a Wii for some delinquent kid, but is “keeping it real” by *not* voting. Like Chris Rock said, more like keeping it reeeaaal dumb. I wouldn’t expect much more from him though, I mean, he counts P-Diddy as one of his heroes….

I don’t understand not voting - the people who don’t generally seem to be the first to complain about taxes or healthcare, if you didn’t voice an opinion at the election you’re not entitled to one afterward.
Obama is the world’s choice, the media especially here in England has pretty much supported him the whole way and some of our senior politicians in all parties have given their backing.

Not voting is not a state of indifference, it is voicing your opinion. You dont want Obama or McCain then why would you vote simple as.
‘Things will never be the same if Barack wins’.
I agree, Obama is the man to get the job done for the ruling class in US. He can say and do things to other people of the world and not be called a racist. How d’you think this crisis is gonna be solved? Heard of AFRICOM? ‘Sweet Oil’
Obama and McCain its the same game!
Shit aint black and white, these issues have gray (no pun intended)

FUCK non-voters. That’s not keeping it real, that’s keeping it WRONG.
If you believe in anything hip hop related, then you know that hip hop is a revolutionary music. People who literally had next to nothing, the descendants of slaves… created this music from nothing and brought it up to the level it is today through the common belief that change is possible. Read “Can’t Stop Won’t Stop” by Jeff Chang, and you’ll see that hip hop has been intertwined with politics and populist radicalism since day one.
Choosing not to bother voting in one of the most important elections the world has ever seen, is straight fucking HERBISH. Ciph, i know you read this shit. Why the fuck are you not voting? Too busy buying another pair of sneakers? You’re playing yourself, dog.

The Video,
Touching… but why is there almost no person of color in that video. If we are going to be about change we need to be careful of the images we put out there.
Second we need to educate not condem people that make foolish choices. Ciph is not by himself, there are alot more folks who think the way he does. That thinking didn’t come out of no were. It came from black and Latino people being 40% of U.S. population and 80% of the prison system.
So haveing a black president is cool but a small accomplishment to the bigger picture. Which is changing the Americana culture of racism. Not just the raceist red necks but the work force, school system etc.
Not to beat people over the head but this video is one more small step to the promise land.
one…..

gs,
if you don’t like mccain nor obama, then at least find somebody you want to vote for and “write in” that option, even if you make a joke out of it and write somebody irrelevant.
“not voting” may be your opinion, but it’s what these politicians want you to do — not vote. they don’t want everybody in america to vote because it will make the electoral vote that much stronger than it already is.
voting is one of the few rights in america that’s given to us. i hear a lot of people say that unless they change the way electoral and popular votes are set up, they’re not going to vote. all yall doing is making the government proud. if nobody in america voted at all, that’s like telling the government to choose whomever they want. fuck around, they would probably break the rules (again), say fuck bush and mccain and keep bush in office. after this past summer of high gas prices, i know you don’t want that.

“to not care about this election is to not care about race”
whoooaaa Peter.. that’s a pretty bold statement.
I don’t think Barack’s presidency ::crosses fingers:: will have anything directly to do with ”race”
“Change” seems to be the more fitting word, and change has no corraltion with ”race”
I do agree with everything else you said but that’s a bit extreme and doesn’t really make any sense.

STFU with all of this “if you don’t vote, you don’t matter” bullcrap. Here’s a major problem with voting: people make it out to be the only means for the public to attain socio-economic change, and that keeps us docile. Half of the voters I know are only voting because they were peer pressured or taunted to vote, and they aren’t that educated on any political issues. I also find it sad that many voters don’t even know about the Electoral College. They cast their ballot thinking it means so much while the electors can easily trump the popular vote. If Americans were really educated on the Electoral College and its ineffectiveness, it would be abolished.
Whats worse than a non-voter? A mis-informed, uneducated voter. And there are plenty of those around.
