Great episode. Large Pro has one of the most textbook New York City accents, I swear to all things holy. So much so that it subconciously caused Ciph to intermittently say “OK boom” every time he started a new thought.
I was talking to someone the other day about who would be good to hear on juan ep and I mentioned Bob Power so I third that vote. Another good one would be Dante Ross - he’ll have good stories from being at Elektra in the 90s…
Interview was great I am going to play that shit every time I go to work. How Q-tip EQ ed the One Love Snare…. Slappers ! Very Insightful. You guys should interview people like Diamond D, Lord Finess, Rakim, Bob Powers etc and get put out an “audio book” of people perspective of how shit went down in that era. The audio book should have two different modes. one with the straight hour long interviews and another mode were everyones accounts of what happen is interleaved and mixed all in a time-line fashion. A well put together “audio book”. But you also have to put the instrumental playing on the background of what ever subject matter they are specifically talking about. Dam that shit would make me wanna cry. For real. If for some reason you guys need help putting this together I am willing to work for free !!!! you guys got my email address.
never heard of large professor, thats prob why i have yet to listen to this episode. yo get some relevant ppl like pharrell or lupe or whoever. shit get maino even tho the nigga is whak.
you didn’t mention “fuck them two DJs” from “Keep it Rollin’”
and check “One Plus One” on that LP bootleg Ciph. Nas went dumby.
“You can’t say the name Nas without sayin’ the honorable. Wealthy. Wall Street. Read the Chronicle. I fuck big titty chicks. Who sip the Long Island City liqs. Drunk off the AyZay with Henney mixed. Mad niggaz is jail like TCB. Teachin me. Everything you see. Ain’t always what it be. Hardly able to chill night ills feeling slight chills. Finding out that rich nigga got to write wills” -escobar during iww.
Never thought I could out nerd Juan Epstein but he was wrong when he said the last producer from Illmatic to work with Nas was DJ Premier or Large Pro as it was Q-Tip on Street’s Disciple he produced and appeared on “American Way”!

kill yourself for not knowing who large professor is… you just disrespected the man who found nas.
peter said it best, “if you don’t know who large professor is, turn off juan epstein and NEVER LISTEN again”.
this muthafucka talking about “get maino”.
man, kill yourself.
