If L.A.X. is on the level of The Documentary and Doctor’s Advocate…
By bsidewinzagain on Aug 16, 2008 in Hip Hop |

Since Peter is out of town I’m gonna hijack the site for a minute.
IF LAX is dope, what does that mean for Game? There are few rappers who have dropped 3 consecutively great albums, and even fewer whose entire body of work is dope. I think it might mean he is in the upper eschelon of rappers out there.
Now I will tell you, Peter and I have already debated this heatedly, and while he likes him, he’s not ready to put him on that level just yet, even if LAX is dope. I on the other hand think the dude is dismissed way too easily.
I’m going to give the clean a listen today. Thoughts to come…

i agree, the game is one the most underrated rappers right.
he gets over looked and dismissed to easily by everybody but his lyrics are monstrous and better than a lot of other mainstream rappers today,
and hes reppin the WEST COAST!!!!

Yo Panama, I’m Panamanian as well. I’m glad to see someone else is
representing for us.
And Nick, you’re absolutely right.
I just heard 6 tracks from LAX & they are superb.
Especially “Gentlemen’s Affair”. Straight Fire!

I just means that rappers can make it if they name drop hard enough.
I mean I like The Game, he can rap better than half these fools on BET. But you can’t even put him up there yet, because we haven’t seen the man evolve/change. He’s still the name dropping, west coast obsessed, G-Unit drop out we know from 3+ years ago. I’ve heard some crazy mixtape tracks from him though.
That being said I’ve only heard the odd stray track from his new album…maybe he’s switched it up a little. But for now the man (to me) is just “good”, regardless of how many solid albums hes put out.

I can’t stand hip hop fans. Game has been holding it down for the longest but people hate on him for the dumbest reasons. People complain about his name dropping which infuriates me to the highest degree. Not on some stan shit at all either. It’s just WHY THE FUCK would anyone ever in their life care about what name is said on a song. WHY? It doesn’t affect anytthing with the song or the music quality. In fact it helps you better understand what he’s saying, and better see where he’s coming from. People been also hating on him cuz the whole 50 cent shit meanwhile its not even his fault. everyone just recently starting to see 50 is all about publicity stunts and only starting to notice since Curtis album. I noticed from the jump. Then another stupid reason people hate on dude is his tats and appearance on that dating show. Theres way more people out there just getting non sensible tats and when game actually gets tats that symbolize shit niggas wanna call him gay. the stupidest shit ever. Then you gonna hate on a dude cuz he trying to get some poon on tv. like wow. The so called hottest rapper had a pic up of him kissing his main dude and dude been accused of having a ghost writer and way way worse shit and he gets the easiest passes.
I been following game way before he blew up with the documentary. Dude can spit and his shit is real. His commercial hits arent his most lyrical shit with some exceptions but even still his shit shits on anyone who is called the best or hottest mc thats no already established like jay-z which i wont even bother getting on that topic.
All game music is dope shit. Mixtapes and music. Now that dude retiring, slowly people are catching on to his talent and its fucking annoying as hell. You same motha fuckas that diss a dude one day quick to hop on his dick the next day. Shit like this pisses me off in hip hop. Not saying anyone who posted is in that case but I had to go off on that rant. I’m already calling LAX the best album this year. Fuck what you heard

he reminds me of 90s hiphop… i hate people who dismiss miss him because of his affiliation with 50. Do we dismiss Em for having to work with Dre… or dismiss the WU for having rza

Game definitely slicker than the average, and if LAX is as good as D.A then he should be treated with the same reverence as Yeezy..
he needs Dre on the 4th one though
Patrick | Aug 17, 2008 | Reply
game tries but hes below average when compared to west coast rappers that are actually good like scarub, opio, mac 10, ect. hes really not worth listening to.
Sam | Aug 17, 2008 | Reply
quest–working with dre is a bad thing? i’m confused.
bsidewinzagain | Aug 17, 2008 | Reply
fuck dre beats. yall niggas is corny. on that niggas dick bout he’s the best n shit. i fuck with neptunes, timbo, and just blaze beats of dre beats.
and dude mentioned nobodies of west coast compared to game. congrats
kyo | Aug 17, 2008 | Reply
consistent name dropping does NOT equate to rapping. dude can’t go two bars with out dropping a name.
SHOUTSTOMYDUDECRI | Aug 17, 2008 | Reply
why do yall complain about fucking name dropping. thats his fucking style. nobody talks about Jay-Z always using Biggie lines.
Abe | Aug 17, 2008 | Reply
Co-sign.Game’s production carries him. I won’t front though, he’s got a style about him that’s appealing.Pause.His albums are solid, but mostly thanks to production. Give somebody else the same beats and they could churn out a classic.Documentary was damn near flawless on the production tip. There’s so much he can say with the background he’s had…but he settles with talking about he’s the new Dre…he listens to NWA…he’s like ice cube…kool g rap. It’s redundant lyricism that sets him back.

bsidewinzagain - good production often leads to the public taking away from your skill.
LMAO@mac 10 being nice… west coast rappers are the worst with the obvious exception of Game, kurupt, pac, cube (in the 90s), and snoop

Yo when Peter gets back, you’ve gotta show him this vid. It’s for a European group, Justice. It’s called Stress, and I’ll be damned if it isn’t the craziest shit I’ve ever seen.

you dont think mac10 is nice? listen to bowdown. and tupac isnt a good rapper. hes a great personality and intellegent, but he really isnt a skilled rapper at all. and the west coast is dope right now because of ppl like living legends, hieroglyphics, sandpeople, ect.
Sam | Aug 18, 2008 | Reply
Another good album, but imo they have gone slightly down each time. But dude is consistant.

Stop taking hip-hop on some douchebag philosophic levels.
Hip-hop ain’t science. Hip-hop ain’t about reading books and rapping about it.
Nobody wants to hear that. I don’t need no advice from a man that makes million for rapping.
I need some dope music for listenin while I’m driving, while I’m ballin, while I’m effin broads, while I’m working…
Game does that good enough. Carter III is a dope album, but Game just smashed this.
I ain’t callin this a “classic”, fuck that overrated term, what is a classic anyway?
Mozart is classic, not some douche rappin bout coke and weed over better beats then the other guy.
Game’s 3rd album - dope 3 in a row. Not many rappers can claim that, now can they.
You keep dissecting the lyrics, I’m off to bump Money or possibly Dope Boys till my fuckin roof collapses.
And hell yeah Imma buy this album in stores in 10 days, this is straight quality hip-hop.

I had a chance to listen to this album late last week and it is nowhere near as good as the Documentary and Doctor’s Advocate. He’s a mainstream guy that I actually like a lot and I was looking forward to this album. I didn’t think there was one really good song on the album. The beats are also really disappointing….

Game is for sure underrated…Dude got skillz. I love Dre’s beats.
Houston, Compton, Miami, Brooklyn - whatever…if the sh*t is hot, I’ll give it a shot.
Peace.

working with dre can be a bad thing to a certain extent… ask eve, rakim, joell ortiz, stat quo, bishop lamont, and anybody else who was supposed to have an album on aftermath.
busta rhymes was lucky about the big bang cause dre was holding on to that for a long minute.
now, eminem caught the dre flu… who knows if em will ever come with another album

LAX is an okay album. It’s not DA and it’s definitely not The Documentary. Game’s biggest problem as an MC is that there isn’t a lot of evolution. And the name dropping didnt really bother me at first, but now it’s gotten to the point where it’s just annoying. All that talk about his style doesn’t really hold up, it’s not style if it’s just being lazy. When Jay would use Big’s lines, people called him out on that shit too, and how much do you hear him doing that now? Almost never.
That said, the joint with him and Raekwon in crazy.

Understood man. I thought it was cool. You went in on homey at the Voice. He had it coming he annoys me more than any other music critic.

I agree with wut u said except about people hating because of tats that mean something…when he got something ON HIS FACE that shud mean ALOT then to get it covered up? thats lame IMO….He even said on jimmy kimmel he regrets every tatoo….

i think he’s dismissed way too easily bc of how dramatic he is.. he shows all of his emotions whenever he wants which makes you uneasy about him personally but at the same time thats what brought 2 really good albums
both albums i purchased we’re well worth the money and he Is consistant so he might deserve to be on ‘that level’
