Pretty kick-ass to be discussing Pete Rock’s production tricks in the comments and the day after Pete is on JuanEp dropping knowledge.
Anyways I just realised some shit: It’s not just Pete Rock interpolating Run-DMC’s Sucker MC’s lyrics it’s also CL Smooth, so if the idea was that the the part of the track should have emulated Sucker MC’s CL Smooth shoulda gotten the kaklack-kaklack start-up too. Unless Pete was on some sneaky shit
