Hov and Lebron Still a Win Away
By pmd on May 1, 2008 in Sports |
Yeah I’m a Celtics fan, but I’m still from DC. So you can bet I was very pleased last night with the Wizards sneaking out of Cleveland with a game 5 victory. The Wiz play so hard and have overcome quite a bit this season and I was very impressed that they held off Lebron down the stretch.
Being down 3-1 and getting that game 5 road win against a better team is not easy–ask Phoenix. Can I also say that Deshawn Stevenson has stepped up considering the pressure he has been under to back up his shots at the king? The reality is, though, that Lebron IS overrated. He is a phenom and may become one of the very best ever, but the “best” player in the game does not miss that shot at the buzzer over Darius Songalia. BACK TO DC.
The Celtics showed again last night why I have mixed feelings about my squad this year. This Atlanta series offers two options: a hugely disappointing loss or a boring win that proves nothing. Fortunately, last night was the latter. The question is can the Celtics survive long enough playing how they are now to make it to the point where they could really come together and be a threat? I hope so.

Its funny, I didn’t hear those “overrated” chants about lebron when he single-handedly butt raped the pistons last year, arguably the best defensive team in the east.

I don’t think Boston will last, they don’t have a fresh enough bench. Their 3 superstars are going to get tired in the long run. They should’ve swept the Hawks.
Lakers are going to take it this year I think. They made proper trades at the deadline to make them real contenders and Kobe is playing his best.
About LeBron, he is still young and will miss those big pressure shots and mistakes, but Stevenson is still a homer for saying that man is overrated. Also Washington is dumb for basically saying to take out James. Of course you’re going to have to take some hard fouls in the playoffs, but don’t try to end the guy’s career.
On another note: Nobody even mentions shit about Chris Paul and the Hornet. Don’t sleep on those cats.

LeBron averaged 30ppg,almost 8 rebounds, and 7 assits, while shooting 48% from the feild. How can you say he’s overrated for missing one shot? He has the worst supporting cast out of any playoff team.

First of all–I said it about Lebron last year. I have no idea how they got past Detroit, but I never saw them as a threat to win even after they made the finals.
Lebron’s numbers have nothing to do with him being overrated. It’s the fact that he is missing a few elements that him “GREAT”. He’s awesome–a phenom–top 5 in the league no doubt, but he has a few things to prove before he’s “King” to me. Granted he almost single handedly makes the Cavs good. Although–Z is good, Delonte West is good, and Gibson is solid. Verejao isn’t a total slouch either, but yeah–point made.
