Acquitted!

Yet again–an unarmed black man has died at the hands of New York Police Officers (“the greatest police force in the world”) and a judge has decided that no crime was committed. This is a tough pill to swallow, but the fact is that no prosecutor wants to aggressively pursue convictions of cops so it is not surprising that this was the verdict, but it’s horrible all the same. Let’s just hope that people respond by aggressively pursuing change and justice. I really don’t know what else to say about this one. I am not remotely surprised.
cops are the immediate physical embodiment of the power of the state. they are here to protect and serve the interests of rich people, not the regular working class.
this is not about black and white, it is about the violent power of the state vs the rights of the individual.

The police do locally what the military does globally

Is this how White Americans felt when O.J. was acquitted?!?!?! Where is the justice?
Your absolutely right MILES DAVIS CAT, this is not a black vs. white scenario. As you can see the officers consisted of 2 minority men. The results of this case are basically placing police officers above the law and this is not the first time this has been done. These officers should have been found guilty and should have been made an example for all of the cops who feel they ARE the law instead of LAW ENFOURCERS.

Was at the courthouse when the verdict came down. Was like a quiet shock took over the crowd waiting outside. The general mood was disappointment but no amazement. Hopefully most will keep in mind that there are greater issues still yet to be dealt with. But today was definitely an unfortunate turn of events.

When I heard the news this morning, I figured NY would be on fire by this afternoon. Saying this is a mockery of justice is useless because we all know how this works. It’s sad & unfortunate. Hopefully, Mr. Bell’s family gets some cake (and a tiny slice of justice) from a wrongful death suit.

I was shocked when i heard this. To do such a horrific thing and still keep your job is ludicrous. I really hope they appeal, the feds should have something to say about this.
Btw, this is something a friend of mine sent me earlier. We were so distraught by what these people have said. It seems to be a police officer forum.
