Long Live Georgetown!! RIP Monday Night Football….

First of all, I want to be clear. This year’s tournament/pool was a very unique experience. I got all four final four teams and don’t even feel good about it, because everyone got at least three (unless you mistakenly tried to be too different because you couldn’t bring yourself to pick the four best teams in the tournament). That said, Georgetown is a great story—and not just because they’re the first college basketball team I ever loved (I’m talking the Mark Tillman/Dikembe days).

Ah I love both Jeff Greens, but not in a gay way really

Georgetown is wonderful, because as a Maryland fan (and to be honest–most any college fan should relate to this), I have become accustomed to my team losing control. Down the stretch, who do the Terps turn to? DJ? Mike Jones? The fact is most college teams do not have the poise of the Hoyas. I have watched them get down time and time again, and without fail, they play within their game and work their way back. Yesterday was no different. Granted, UNC’s utter collapse helped, but this team is very good. Jeff Green (not to be confused with LD’s manager on Curb) is an absolute monster. Can you think of another player in college basketball who can play the big man or the little guy depending on the play?? He is so versatile it’s scary. They will beat OSU and unfortunately I believe Florida will beat a very talented UCLA team again to set up a great final. For the record, I have Georgetown over UCLA, but that was a wishfull pick. Florida is so tough and so unlikeable. I absolutely despise Noah in an indescribable way. His over the top passion does not work when he’s on a team so dominant. He also looks like the garbage pail kid version of my ex-girlfriend.

Well good news for Monday Night Raw, ESPN’s MNF crew is getting EVEN worse. I know it seemed impossible. Last season was hands down the worst season of Monday Night Football in history. Not just because of its horrible game selection, not just because if wasn’t on free TV for the first time ever, but mostly because Tirico, Kornheiser, and Theismann were pure torture to listen to. Well it gets worse. ESPN announced Monday that Ron “Jaws” Jaworski will replace Theismann in the booth.

Don’t get me wrong, I hate Theismann considerably more than Jaws. However, Theismann was really the only super legit football broadcaster in the booth. Jaws is sort of a joke to me. So we now have Mike “No Personality” Tirico, Tony “Offers Nothing but Occasionally Irrevrant Bullshit” Kornheiser, and “Wacky” Ron Jaworski. Thanks, but no thanks. I think I’ll go with Madden and Michaels on Sunday Night and Raw on Monday night (fine I’ll still flip to the MNF and watch on mute). Thank you, ESPN, for ruining the best sports program of all time.

  1. you’re clueless if you think Jaws Jaworski is a joke. If you EVER listen to his analysis you’d know that he’s one of the VERY best at breaking down plays, players and coahes. He spends nearly 30 hours a WEEK at NFL films in NJ breaking down teams and games for ESPN. He’s WIDELY regarded as one of the best analysts.
